Dana Walker, PT, DScPT

Dana Walker Bronsord, founder of IslandFit Physical Therapy and Wellness, is a native of wild and wonderful West Virginia.  She attended Youngstown State University for her undergraduate work and graduated in 2001 from their Physical Therapy Program. While at YSU Dana was a 4 year, Division I, Soccer lettermen and Scholar Athlete.  Later, she attended the University of Maryland to pursue her Doctor of Science of Physical Therapy (DScPT)

Dana spent the first 15 years of her career in the metropolitan area of D.C./Baltimore as a Clinical Administrator and Physical Therapist for Centers of Advanced Orthopedics.  She still acts as a consultant for the practice.  While in Baltimore, Dana worked side by side with the country’s largest and most advanced orthopedic group to develop, manage and build state-of-the-art physical therapy clinics.    Dana’s areas of specialties include MedX Lumbar and Cervical Spine Specialist, biomechanical evaluations and casting for custom foot orthotics, Dry Needing and Sportsmetrics.  

Dana Bronsord moved to the sunny sands of Fort Myers Beach after meeting her now husband and native Bill Bronsord.   In their spare time they enjoy fishing, diving, paddle boarding, running, swimming and most of all spending quality time with family.   In December 2014 Dana captured her professional dream by opening her private practice, IslandFit Physical Therapy and Wellness.  Watching her vision come to fruition has been her greatest accomplishment.  She is forever grateful and proud of the IslandFit team for making this practice a much needed and success for the Ft. Myers Beach community.  Dana  is passionate about bringing health, wellness, and activity to all while helping others live the life they love.


Amanda Reifler, PT, DPT.

Amanda graduated from Widener University, class of 2010, with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. She has seven years experience working in outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation.  Amanda recently has moved to Beautiful Southwest Florida and is excited to have joined the IslandFit team.

Amanda is full body certified in Active Release Techniques for lower extremity, upper extremity and spinal injuries. In addition, Amanda has formal training and six years experience in applying the Graston Technique. Both these techniques are a specialization addressing muscular dysfunctions that is common with most overuse injuries or scar tissue buildup. Amanda also has formal training and experience working with TMD (temporomandibular Disorder) cases and is a Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner. Amanda has completed her training and is certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (aka McKenzie Method), a specialization in treatment for conditions of the spine and extremities. Amanda also completed her training with Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars and received her COMT (Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist) Certification.  More recently, Amanda has become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS).

Amanda loves IslandFit’s team approach to individualized care and shares in their passion for active and hands-on treatment. She also shares IslandFit’s love for promoting a healthy lifestyle and in her free time enjoys a multitude of traveling, hiking and other outdoor adventures. Amanda is also a member of the Gulf Coast Runners.


Lucy Church, PT, DPT.

Lucy gained her Bachelors from Florida State University with a major in Biological/Health sciences. After graduating in 2013, Lucy continued to fuel her passion for physical therapy through earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Florida International University, Nicole Wertheim College of Health Sciences.

Lucy found her love for patient care at a young age, but discovered her true calling for physical therapy and wellness upon joining the IslandFit team. Since then, her position at IslandFit has continued to fuel her passion for physical therapy and all that it encompasses. Lucy utilizes a variety of manual techniques to complement the treatment of her patients and believes that each individual deserves a unique and individualized approach. She believes in the importance of patient education and strives to assist  patients in regaining their active and independent lifestyles.

In her free time, Lucy enjoys taking in all that sunny Southwest Florida has to offer. She loves to paddleboard and kayak around the beautiful Florida beaches, experiment with new healthy recipes and spend quality time with family and friends. Lucy loves working at IslandFit due to her amazing co-workers that continue to encourage her to achieve her maximum potential, and the welcoming atmosphere that first drew her to the clinic.

 


 Jen Skalski, Physical Therapist Assistant

Jen graduated from Niagara University in 2003 with a B.A. in psychology, and in 2015 she earned an A.A.S. in Physical Therapy Assistant from Niagara County Community College. Prior to earning her PTA degree, Jen fostered her love for physical therapy through her work as a rehabilitation aide for over 6 years in an outpatient physical therapy clinic. Since joining the IslandFit team in 2015, Jen has continued to develop her clinical skills and in 2016 became IASTM and RockBlade certified.

During her time at Niagara University, Jen played Women’s Division 1 ice hockey, achieving 2 gold medals at the Empire State games where she represented Western New York. In addition, Jen won the 2005 National Championship with the Buffalo Saints Women’s Senior A hockey team.

Jen has a deep passion for animals, and can be found most weekends enjoying the amazing wildlife Southwest Florida has to offer! She enjoys travel, fishing, nature photography and keeping fit. She has a beautiful basset hound named Madge and two cute little box turtles.

Jen loves working at IslandFit due to the welcoming, family-like atmosphere and our close-knit team which is driven to promote the health and healing of each and every patient.


Matt Bryan, Physical Therapist Assistant

Matt Bryan is a Physical Therapist Assistant and Certified Personal Trainer working at Island Fit.  Matt is a former United States Marine, serving from 2003-2007 as well as 2008-2009 to include two tours in Iraq as well numerous other deployments.  Matt became a personal trainer after serving and then was called back for another tour in 2008-2009 after which time he returned to school to become a PTA.

Matt’s qualifications and experience include an A.S. as a PTA as well as working as a personal trainer paired with coaching gymnastics and training athletes of a variety of sports.  Matt achieved the highest levels of fitness in the Marine Corps and was a lifelong athlete growing up.  Matt earned various awards and levels of recognition in the Marines to include a black belt in martial arts, the platoon leader for physical fitness, and the highest level of water survival.

Matt enjoys staying active regularly with anything ranging from doing handstands to swimming in the gulf and running the trails at Lovers Key with his lovely wife.  Matt is happy to have joined the crew at island fit this past fall and appreciates the high level of motivation, teamwork, and respect amongst his colleagues as well as working with the patients who have been hard working, generous, and appreciative.

 


 

Tabitha Lees, Physical Therapy Facilitator

Tabitha graduated from Florida State University in 2017 with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Born and raised in Fort Myers, Tabitha has had a love for sports and staying active from a young age. Her interest in Physical Therapy stems from her fascination in how rehabilitation can improve physical performance, and she aspires to attend graduate school to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

In her free time, Tabitha enjoys playing soccer and enjoying the beautiful gulf coast beaches. She loves working at IslandFit due to the fun work environment and the ability to learn more about the world of physical therapy. Tabitha enjoys her position as a PT Facilitator as it encompasses hands on experience and allows her to assist patients on their road to recovery and wellness.


Katherine Mulroy, Physical Therapy Facilitator

Kat grew up just North of here in beautiful Clearwater, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Florida Gulf coast University in 2017. Kat shares our passion for the human body, and aspires to gain her doctorate in physical therapy.

In her free time, Kat enjoys spending time in the nature of SWFL, trying out new local restaurants and spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite things about working at IslandFit is the knowledge she gain everyday from her talented coworkers! She feels lucky to work in such an energetic and engaging environment.


 

Shannon Hibbert, Patient Care Liaison/ Insurance Specialist

Shannon moved from Indiana to sunny Southwest Florida in 2011 and has never looked back! Prior to starting work at IslandFit, she worked in a dermatology office as a surgical assistant and became a certified histotech for Mohs surgery.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys spending time outdoors whether it be fishing with her wonderful husband or playing with her new puppy Marlin! She enjoys working at IslandFit due to the positive and fun work environment and her amazing co workers!
